Quartzite in a kitchen

Quartzite Countertops

Quartzite is a beautifully hard, dense formation of metamorphized sandstone that transformed under intense pressure and heat. It makes an excellent substitution for marble, as it is scratch- and heat-resistant. Quartz and quartzite are not the same thing– quartz is man-made and quartzite is 100% natural stone.

The price of quartzite will vary based on where it comes from and its features, just as marble, granite and quartz options vary in price. Quartzite is mined in Brazil and frequently used in lieu of Calcutta marble. The Taj Mahal is a well-known building made of quartzite.

At Granite of the Smokies, we are proud to be able to offer quartzite to our clients in the Talbott, Tennessee area. Our talented design staff members are a valuable resource if you would like to learn about how quartzite can be incorporated into your next home renovation design. As is the case with all the natural stone we offer, we are a one-stop shop that can turn your slab into custom, beautiful countertops and then install them in your home.

One of the other ways that quartzite differs from quartz is that it requires less maintenance. It is more durable and stronger. In fact, it is even stronger than granite! If you are looking for a scratch-resistant option, we recommend considering quartzite.
